For the past few days Frank Ford has been having a daily shop tip on his Frets.com site. I love his ideas, makes us remember that luthiers are like MacGyver only we haven't been cancelled yet.

Here! Here! Frank's my hero  If you had to be stuck on a desert island with just one other bloke, Frank Ford would be an excellent first choice.
I reckon Frank could have you set-up nice and comfy with a nag-less wooden wife, a cold home brew and a fully equipped shop building fine guitars out of a palm trees in no time flat.

Evan, you are 'sposed to post a direct link when you tease us like this. www.frets.com is a big place, we might get lost and otherwise be in there for days looking for the door. Frank is one swell fellow. He took time to say hello and let me get a pic with him and Michi this past summer in his shop. Everyone I met at Gryphon was tops. If I never get to go back there, I'll always remember it as a highlight to that trip to San Francisco. The shop tip that day he showed me was his bridge pin sizing collets to turn bridge pins. That way, rather than open up the holes on the handmade guitars. He simply turns the pins down to a perfect match. Einstein with a shop apron. |

Bruce, if I knew how to actually work a computer and do a direct link thingy I would be a computer guy for a living instead of the Neanderthal I am who pounds bits of metal into wood with a small hammer. 
Actually I was wondering how everybody quotes each other in those fancy red boxes. Evan |

Bruce, I think Evan was referring to the very front welcome page HERE which is before the giant index. You will see the "New Shop Tip Feb 24 2006" link. I don't know for sure, but maybe this is being updated daily. Is that right Evan? Cheers Kim |

Thanks Hesh But mine was a typo, it was mean to read "Sandless wood for Life" which can be a real bonus on a desert island

http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/whatsnew.html Evan, you copy and paste the webaddy from the page into the little world with the chain link in the post area. That's how you do it. Now, the whatsnew page is not new. But the shop tip for today is? Maybe Frank is going to do this daily, there is no indication. Cool, Frank is showing how to use old CD's and keep a paintbrush from drying out. I just use them for coasters or frisbees. Nothing nearly as cool as this.

Evan, you can even link a picture without stealing it. This photo is hosted on Frets.com, but referenced here which pulls up the picture. Neat huh? Experiment.

Evan[/QUOTE] Hey Evan, If you wish to quote someone, look at the TOP righthand corner of their post for the "Quote" button. Click on it and a normal posting box will open, the first text in that box will be a bracket like this [ followed by "QUOTE= user being quoted]" followed by the content of their post, with the last text being a closing bracket that looks something like this " {/QUOTE}" You can type your reply either before, or after the opening and closing brackets depending on whether you would like your reply displayed above or below the red box containing the quote. Just don't type anything you have to say between the quote brackets and you will be OK. 
If you do not wish to quote all of the users post, you only need highlight and delete anything within the "[QUOTE=who ever it is you are quoting}" and the " {/QUOTE}" brackets to remove it from display. Hope that helped 
EDIT; Just a thought Evan, do not use this post to experiment because to explain myself I typed so many brackets and writen the word quote so many times you will just get confused. Try using Bruce's one above
